Dwight D. Carlson is the founder, chairman and CEO of Coherix, a leader in the development of laser-based 3D computer-vision technology that enables next-generation inspection and process-control solutions for manufacturing in the automotive, consumer electronics and other precision-manufacturing industries.
Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Coherix was founded by Carlson to transform the way products are manufactured.
He previously served as the founder, president and CEO of Perceptron, a company that pioneered the development of laser-based solutions for use in the global automotive industry. Carlson also was the co-founder, president and CEO of XYCOM, an early leader in the use of industrial micro-computers for manufacturing applications.
Carlson served as the chairman of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC), was co-chair of the National Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing (NACFAM) and served on the advisory board of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He also served as a member of the National Advisory Board at the University of Michigan’s Engineering College.
A graduate of Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute) in Flint, Michigan, Carlson lives in Ann Arbor.
