Workshop 2: Quality at the Core: Enable Competitive Manufacturing with Better Measurements
- Select a room
Accurate and reliable measurements are the foundation of quality manufacturing, yet misunderstandings about calibration and equipment capability continue to undermine measurement confidence across industries. Many quality-related issues stem from not understanding the accuracy needs of your equipment, not having appropriate calibrations, or using an inappropriate calibration vendor, and/or making insufficient calibration requests.
This interactive tutorial includes plain-language explanations and hands-on exercises to build practical knowledge in three key areas: Dispelling common myths and misnomers about calibration, determining the accuracy needs of their measuring and testing equipment and finding appropriate and competent calibration vendors; and making effective calibration requests to calibration providers to ensure calibration results meet manufacturing and quality requirements the first time. Participants will leave with knowledge and practical skills and tools they can immediately apply to strengthen their measurement processes and reduce manufacturing risks.
Learning Objectives: After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Dispel common myths about calibration, including misconceptions about calibration vs. verification, calibration vs. adjustment, “NIST-traceability,” and “ISO 17025-certification”.
- Determine the accuracy needs of your measuring and testing equipment and find appropriate and competent calibration vendors.
- Make effective calibration requests so you get the calibration you need.
